Honouring Excellence in the Legal Profession: Queensland Law Society President’s Medal

The Queensland Law Society (QLS) President’s Medal holds significant prestige within the legal profession as it recognises exceptional solicitors who have made remarkable contributions to their field and the community. Last year, the Director of Page Provan, Stephen Page, was bestowed with this esteemed award, which is carefully judged on service to the community, legal competence, and personal integrity. Receiving the Society’s highest accolade was an extraordinary experience for Stephen, as it involved meeting the exacting standards set by five former Presidents of the QLS. The recognition he received in front of approximately 300 colleagues at the ceremony was truly humbling and moving.

The President’s Medal aims to acknowledge practitioners who have distinguished themselves and made outstanding contributions to the legal profession in Queensland. It celebrates individuals who have displayed leadership, integrity, and commitment throughout their careers, both professionally and personally. Stephen Page, having been internationally recognized as a leading surrogacy lawyer from his small firm in Brisbane, emphasizes that deserving recipients can come from firms of any size. He encourages colleagues to nominate those who are making a difference by changing laws or positively impacting people’s lives. This unique award sets itself apart by honoring only one exceptional solicitor, making it a highly exclusive recognition within the legal community.

Nominations for the 2024 President’s Medal are now open until February 23, 2024, and only peer nominations are accepted. The recipient of this prestigious award will be presented with the President’s Medal at the Legal Profession Dinner in March. Let us come together as a profession to celebrate excellence and honor those who have left a lasting impact on the practice of law. By recognizing outstanding achievements, we inspire and encourage others to continually strive for greatness within the legal field.
