Seminar on overseas reproductive care

Seminar on overseas reproductive care

The Victorian Assisted Reproductive Treatment Authority is holding a seminar about cross-border reproductive care. The extraordinary nature of the seminar is that it demonstrates how in Victoria overseas commercial surrogacy is perfectly legal (as it is in WA, SA, NT and Tasmania), but it is an offence in Qld, NSW and the ACT.

Eyes Wide Open: Cross-Border Reproductive Care
Date & Time: 13 April 2011, 5.30pm to 7.30pm.
Location: Russell Kennedy Pty Ltd, Level 12, 469 La Trobe Street, Melbourne
Whether through surrogacy, egg, sperm or embryo donation, there are many ethical and legal issues to consider when seeking reproductive care overseas. There are also some very real risks to the health and welfare of families created in this way, and to those from other countries who contribute their genetic material or act as surrogates.

VARTA’s first twilight seminar for 2011 brings together two internationally respected experts in the field with a particular focus on the issues and risks related to surrogacy overseas.
