Thai clinic suspended

Thai clinic suspended

Singapore’s Straits Times has reported that a clinic in Bangkok at Lat Phrao has had its licence suspended by authorities for 60 days, on suspicion that it had been undertaking surrogacy.A quick Google search revealed that the only IVF clinic at Lat Phrao was Bangkok IVF, a different operator to the closed clinic, All IVF Center. It is likely that Australians are existing clients of that clinic- whether because they have babies on the way, or because they have embryos in storage there.

I have been advised that it is likely that the news laws in Thailand concerning surrogacy will be passed within the next couple of days.

In the meantime, the stories about Aussies going broke and being stuck in Thailand continue, as seen here and here. The fallout in Thailand continues. It may be weeks if not months before all becomes clear.
