Two calls for help for those coming back to Australian government quarantine

To help those parents who are coming back to Australian government 14 days quarantine with their newborns in tow born through surrogacy overseas, (which could be up to 4 weeks quarantine or self-isolation) I ask for two things:

  1. If you are parents who fall into this category,  please reach out to me. Whether you are my clients or not doesn’t matter. While you should be bringing as much baby supplies as possible, including declaring any baby formula you bring into Australia, there are people in Australia who are willing to try and help you with more supplies. It is likely that there will be shortages in Government supplies to you and your babies. By identifying yourselves confidentially to me and my firm, we will be able to pass on your details confidentially to others to help you. I can be contacted on +61 7 3221 9571 or stephen@pageprovan.com.au.
  2. If you are able to help these parents in any way, please contact  me. At a meeting of Australian surrogacy types today which I chaired, Sam Everingham from Growing Families agreed to put a call out to people who can help. The need I expect will mainly be in Sydney, as our largest gateway, but let’s see. It might be Melbourne or Brisbane or even Perth.  Parents who have endured a battle to get home and have a shortage of supplies need every bit of help that they can get. Again, your involvement will be treated as highly confidential.

The central issue is whether the couple’s relationship amounts to living together on a genuine domestic basis.… Read More »De facto relationship: what counts under family law?

Paid egg donation in Australia: is it legal?

Can someone be paid to donate eggs in Australia? The short answer is no. Human eggs cannot lawfully be treated as something to buy or sell. Australia permits altruistic egg donation, not commercial egg donation. But that is not the end of the story. A donor may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses associated with the… Read More »Paid egg donation in Australia: is it legal?

Egg Freezing in Prison: The High Court’s Decision in Smith
