Qld to close its borders

Qld to close its borders

The Qld Premier, following the approach of her counterparts in SA, WA, NT and Tasmania, has announced the closure of the Qld border- effective as of midnight Wednesday.

The difference  in the effect of closures is huge. In the other States where there are closures, the border is a long way away from clinics and hospitals. Not so in Queensland- because many patients living in the Tweed and Northern Rivers come to the Gold Coast and Brisbane for medical attention, including hospital treatment and IVF. The principal cancer treatment hospital for northern NSW, for example, is on the Gold Coast.

Brisbane and Gold Coast IVF clinics have MANY NSW patients. The Qld Disaster Management Committee meets tomorrow morning to discuss exemptions, and what exemptions, if any, should be in place for patients.

I am closely monitoring developments as they arise.
