Research on domestic violence and the workplace

How domestic violence affects women’s jobs and their employability is the subject of a three-year research project being conducted at the University of South Australia. The research will also identify program and policy changes to assist women affected by domestic violence maintain economic stability. A state-wide phone-in day was conducted in March 2008 to allow South Australian women to share their experiences of domestic violence and how it affected their employment. The study is a part of the South Australian Government’s Women’s Safety Strategy and is being funded by the Department for Families and Communities. The reference group for the project includes SafeWork SA, Working Women’s Centre, SA Unions, Office for Women, Department of Health and Business SA. Contact: Associate Professor Suzanne Franzway
