The Importance of Reaching Out Early Following Separation

In this video, Accredited Family Law Specialist Bruce Provan shares the importance of reaching out early if you’re contemplating or going through a separation.

My name is Bruce Provan, I’m the Managing Director of Page Provan, Family and Fertility Lawyers, we’re a specialist firm that practices only in family and fertility law in Brisbane.

I want to speak to you this morning about the importance of reaching out if you’re contemplating or going through a separation. Separation is going to be one of the difficult, if not the most difficult time of your life, and you don’t have to do it all yourself.

There are a lot of professionals out there who can assist you and guide you through the process. Obviously, a lawyer is one of them, and as experienced family lawyers, we’re the ones best placed to guide you through the process of what you need to know, and what are the best options for you, what’s the process, and how much all of it’s going to cost, and in general, the earlier you can consult with a lawyer, the better.

But there are also other important people that can help you. Obviously, your family and friends are going to be a huge support in this important time. But then there’s medical professionals as well, your GP and psychiatrist may be able to help you.

Alternately, you should consider consulting with a psychologist or a counsellor to try and get you through this difficult time. So it’s important to reach out, this doesn’t have to be a disaster. It can go relatively smoothly if you reach out and get the appropriate help from these people.
