Australian adoption law story broadcast on Xinhua television

Yesterday a story about international adoption was run by Daily News, a program on China’s giant Xinhua network. I was interviewed for the segment. I spoke about Australian adoption law, including that Australian governments are determined to ensure that there are no illegal adoptions.

This was seen last year, for example, when the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade stopped Australians adopting from Ethiopia, after concerns were raised that children were being sold pretending that they were orphans so as to ensure that they could be adopted by Australians.
