From Istanbul to the Banco Court: Page Provan Celebrates Evren Kurt’s Admission as a Lawyer
Page Provan is thrilled to celebrate a very special milestone for one of our own: Evren Kurt has officially been admitted as a lawyer in Queensland.
Evren’s path to admission was anything but ordinary. Originally a practising lawyer in Istanbul, Turkey, he made the bold decision to start his legal career over from scratch in Queensland, learning a new language and an entirely new legal system along the way. On Monday, 24 August, that hard work came full circle when Evren was one of more than 100 people admitted to the Supreme Court of Queensland.
Our Principal, Stephen Page, had the honour of moving Evren’s admission, describing the ceremony as a proud reflection of just how diverse the legal profession has become. The Banco Court was packed with family, friends and colleagues, all there to witness a moment years in the making.
As Evren put it, “I had spent years working towards that sentence, and it lasted a few seconds.”
Stephen has his own fond memory of the day too, sharing a laugh over a photo with Evren after several of Evren’s friends found themselves in a good-natured scramble over whose phone would capture the moment.
From the whole team at Page Provan, congratulations Evren! We’re proud to have you with us and can’t wait to see where your legal career takes you.
