Family Dispute Resolution training announced

The Federal Attorney-General’s Department has announced that training will occur in May around Australia for family dispute resolution practitioners and family lawyers.

The point of the training is to ensure that family dispute practitioners are fully accredited by 1 July. On that date parties will not be able to commence legal proceedings about their children, except in certain emergencies, without first having attended a Family Relationship Centre or other family dispute resolution practitioner and having a certificate from that center or practitioner, including where domestic violence is an issue, an exemption from attending due to family violence.
