Qld: DV month events

May is Domestic and Family Violence Prevention Month in Queensland, to highlight the effect domestic and family violence have on the community.

Events planned are:

Tree Planting
The Voices of Hope Group are planting two trees along the Keith Murray Bikeway adding with a small service to acknowledge those who have died as a result of domestic and family violence. This is the second year this activity has been held. With help from the local community, the group is hoping to eventually plant an avenue of trees.

Pets in Crisis
An information session lead by the RSPCA about the Pets in Crisis Program. Research shows that there is a strong link between domestic and family violence and pet abuse. Participants will be given information on how their pets can remain safe until the person affected by domestic and family violence is in a position to look after them again.
