Qld surrogacy case

Qld surrogacy case

I am informed by a colleague that the Queensland Children’s Court has made parentage orders following a surrogacy. This would be the first such case. The surrogacy would been an amnesty case- one entered into illegally before the commencement of the Surrogacy Act on 1 June. Parentage orders enable the transfer of parentage on the birth certificate from the birth mother (and her partner) to the intended parent/s. They can only be made after the child’s birth.

As soon as the case is published, I will post an article on the blog.
