What is Access Australia & Why You Need to Know About it

Transcript

Good day, everyone. [I’m] Stephen Page from Page Provan Family and Fertility Lawyers. I was recently honoured and privileged, humbled to be appointed as a Director of Access Australia’s Infertility Network. This is a charity that advocates for those who need assisted reproductive treatment, including IVF. It’s been around for quite a while.

Access Australia, as it’s commonly called, helps people through the process to help choose the IVF clinic and give information about what IVF clinic is around, what they offer and what are some of the tips and tricks when undertaking IVF. One of the things that I discovered that clients had told me for many years, but of course, going through your own IVF journey, discovered by the bucket load is it’s a delightful feeling of when you go to the front counter and the woman behind the counter says, “That’ll be $3,000, Mr Page,” and you immediately think, “Am I going to faint? Do I actually have enough? When am I going to pay that back? Have I got it on my card?” And then you go through the brain, of course, all seemingly remaining calm at this moment thinking, “Yes, it’ll probably take forever to pay off. But anyway, I do have it on the card. What’s my PIN number now?” I know that’s a really simple transaction that I’ve explained, but it’s just a simple thing.

Some clinics bulk bill, some full freight, you’ve got to pay the lot whether you like it or not, and some bulk bill for some things and pay for others.

So Access Australia, as I said, has been around for a long time. It plays this critical role and one of the things that it helped do is set up a website and this is in conjunction between the Fertility Society of Australia, New Zealand and the Australian Government.

yourivfsuccess.com.au. I suggest go and have a look at it if you want to know more about which IVF clinics are around and what they offer, what their success rates are. Go and look, I’ll talk about success rates in another video. But anyway, go and have a look at yourivfsuccess.com.au. Thank you.

Can I Move Away With My Child? Relocation Law in Australia

Relocation cases sit among the most difficult parenting disputes in Australian family law. They usually arise when one parent wants to move with a child, or has already moved, in a way that reduces the other parent’s time or involvement. Who is a Parent By Stephen Page

The question sounds simple. Who is a parent? In law, it is anything but simple. Biology matters. Birth matters. Intention matters. Paperwork matters. State law matters. Federal law matters. That is especially true… Read More »Who is a Parent By Stephen Page

Posthumous Conception in Victoria: Retrieval, Consent, and the Law

Posthumous conception cases in Victoria sit at the intersection of grief, medicine, and strict statutory rules. They are deeply personal matters, but they are also highly technical. Timing matters. Consent matters. Process matters.
